It's been a few weeks since I've returned from my maternity leave. I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students in 5S and look forward to having a great year in fifth grade together.
This morning we took some time to review the homework expectations in our classroom. In addition to the expectations, we also discussed WHY each expectation is so important. Homework can help to develop great habits like responsibility, organization, and time management. Thank you for the work you do at home to help develop these skills!

Homework Reminders:
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about homework.
- Homework is typically assigned Monday thru Thursday. Students are expected to read for at least 20 minutes and complete a math worksheet.
- Students fill in their agendas after lunch every day. If they are out of the room at this time, it is the student's responsibility to fill in the agenda. We've discussed that snack or dismissal are good times to do this.
- If all homework is completed on time for 2 weeks, students earn a homework pass. Before using a homework pass, students must check with me first.
- If a homework assignment is not completed or is not at school when it is due, students complete a late homework slip. The assignment is due the following day. If incomplete homework becomes a pattern, I will have a problem solving conversation with the student and contact the parents.
